Nightingale Care Home, Wandsworth

Commercial Hard Landscaping

An outstanding Hard and Soft Landscape Scheme outside the new Wohl Building in Wandsworth. The team had to battle with very restricted access and tremendous time restraints. This new facility is part of the Nightingale Care Home and caters for Clients with dementia and the gardens, designed by Tim Lynch Associates, contained many reminiscent and proactive features to help stimulate memory and activity. The development was officially opened by Prince Charles on 6 July 2011 having been completed the previous Friday!
A spokeswoman for the care home said the new wing provides a "reassuring environment" for people with dementia. It includes landscaped gardens which feature items such as a Morris Minor car and a red telephone box to link residents to their past.
We manoeuvred a 1957 Morris Minor into position, installed a classic style Wooden bus shelter, K6 telephone box, period cast iron post box, sound posts, outdoor audio entertainment facilities, a shed, compost bins, raised vegetable beds, built water features, pergolas, gazeboes, installed a rose garden along with other major planting beds, turf – all in conjunction with other trades and all in under 4 weeks – quite a task.
